AirAsia to fly to S'pore-Bangkok

SINGAPORE: Malaysian budget airline AirAsia plans to begin
services between Singapore and Thailand starting next month,
local media reported Tuesday.

Singapore's Civil Aviation Authority, which manages the city-
state's Changi Airport, has been notified that AirAsia intends to
launch a service between Changi and Bangkok, the Straits Times
newspaper reported citing an unnamed spokesman for the authority.

Currently, AirAsia operates out of Senai airport in the
neighboring Malaysian state of Johor, offering cheap flights to
Kuala Lumpur.

It takes about 45 minutes to one hour to drive from Singapore
to Senai airport.

The company previously has said it will begin a Senai-Bangkok
route with fares from as low as 49.99 Singapore dollars
(US$28.70) starting next month.

Malaysia-based AirAsia began its first international services
in December last year between Malaysia and Phuket, Thailand, and
plans to add other destinations in Thailand and Indonesia soon.
