AirAsia (CMPP) Suffers IDR 1.3 Trillion Loss in 2025, Here's Why
PT AirAsia Indonesia Tbk (CMPP) continues to face performance pressures throughout 2025, with the low-cost carrier posting a loss of IDR 1.3 trillion.
The company’s equity deficit reached IDR 10.7 trillion. Nevertheless, AirAsia’s 2025 loss was 15 per cent lower than the net loss recorded in 2024, which reached IDR 1.5 trillion.
Revenue stagnation and rupiah depreciation against the US dollar have weighed heavily on AirAsia. The company recorded revenue of IDR 7.9 trillion in 2025, declining 0.9 per cent year-on-year.
Meanwhile, operating expenses fell 2.4 per cent to IDR 8.5 trillion, resulting in operational losses being trimmed to IDR 645 billion. Fuel and maintenance costs represent the largest operational burden for AirAsia Indonesia.
These two components totalled IDR 5.2 trillion, accounting for approximately 60 per cent of total operating expenses.
Operationally, AirAsia, through its subsidiary PT Indonesia AirAsia, transported 5.91 million passengers with a seat load factor of 83 per cent across its entire flight network.
Seat sales remained the largest revenue contributor at IDR 6.62 trillion, whilst ancillary revenue such as baggage and cargo generated IDR 1.25 trillion.
