Medical gas plays a vital role in patient safety. Banda Aceh, Indonesia — The Indonesian Medical Gas Installation Association (AIGMI) has channelled humanitarian assistance in the form of a medical gas installation system worth Rp1.162 billion to RSUD Muda Sedia in Aceh Tamiang Regency, which was affected by floods. ‘We are here to hand over the donation, which is now installed in the ICU, operating theatre, and Sempa room,’ said AIGMI Chairman Deviatri Syam in Aceh Tamiang on Friday. Deviatri explained that the installation restoration has been carried out since 15 December 2025. Based on the Health Ministry’s mapping, RSUD Muda Sedia is a health facility with the worst damage due to the flood. The donation covers repair of distribution networks, provision of a central medical gas compressor system, a central medical vacuum system, repair of the oxygen and N2O manifold system, and the procurement of dozens of flowmeters and suction regulators. ‘Medical gas is not merely a utility, but part of a life-support system. We hope this facility will make RSUD more prepared to provide reliable emergency services,’ Deviatri said. ‘The recent floods significantly affected our medical gas installations. This greatly affects healthcare delivery because medical gases are a vital component to support procedures in intensive care areas such as the ICU and operating theatre,’ said Andika. He added that the existence of a reliable installation system is an urgent need so that the people of Aceh Tamiang can again receive optimal medical services independently at the state-owned RSUD. Andika added that before these improvements and the oxygen central supply from AIGMI, the hospital was forced to refer all patients needing intensive care to other health facilities. ‘Alhamdulillah, with this assistance and the installation repairs, those vital services have now been restored,’ Dr Andika concluded.
