AIDS and a cure
AIDS and a cure
Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is, at present, the
most horrible condition known to man. We have every reason to be
deeply concerned about this particular syndrome, because no cure
has yet been found. That's why the government continues with its
intensive anti-AIDS campaign throughout Indonesia. Also, we
should not isolate people with AIDS , but instead, we should give
due attention to them to alleviate their suffering.
In this regard, I strongly disagree with KH Hasan Basri, a
highly respected figure in society, who said that one alternative
to solving the problem of AIDS is to give people with AIDS a
lethal injection. This clearly contradicts the government's
campaign, Pancasila and human rights.
Do we have the right to determine when and how people die?
Life and death are in the hands of God alone because He is the
creator of all that lives. So, instead of lethal injections, we
should be looking for a way to extend the lives of people with
AIDS.
