AIDS and a cure<\/p>\n
Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is, at present, the
\nmost horrible condition known to man. We have every reason to be
\ndeeply concerned about this particular syndrome, because no cure
\nhas yet been found. That's why the government continues with its
\nintensive anti-AIDS campaign throughout Indonesia. Also, we
\nshould not isolate people with AIDS , but instead, we should give
\ndue attention to them to alleviate their suffering.<\/p>\n
In this regard, I strongly disagree with KH Hasan Basri, a
\nhighly respected figure in society, who said that one alternative
\nto solving the problem of AIDS is to give people with AIDS a
\nlethal injection. This clearly contradicts the government's
\ncampaign, Pancasila and human rights.<\/p>\n
Do we have the right to determine when and how people die?
\nLife and death are in the hands of God alone because He is the
\ncreator of all that lives. So, instead of lethal injections, we
\nshould be looking for a way to extend the lives of people with
\nAIDS.<\/p>\n
