Sleman (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono planted trees in the Green Corridor of the Prambanan-Purwomartani toll road section, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, to strengthen Green and Blue Open Spaces (RTHB).

“The government under President Prabowo Subianto’s direction is committed to delivering environmentally based development to create a verdant Indonesia,” said AHY during the tree-planting event in the Green Corridor of the Prambanan-Purwomartani toll road, Sleman, on Saturday.

According to him, one concrete step is demonstrated through the planting of dozens of trees in the open spaces along the Prambanan-Purwomartani toll road in Sleman Regency.

“Our shared spirit is to preserve the earth; this RTHB programme is a very important concrete step,” he said.

AHY emphasised the importance of human-oriented development by ensuring a balance between infrastructure, education, and community welfare.

“Development must still prioritise the principle of environmental sustainability; for that reason, the government continues to strive to develop the green corridor concept along the Solo-Yogyakarta toll road up to YIA Airport in Kulon Progo.

“One of its implementations is the planting of trembesi trees along that route,” he said.

He stated that in the future, every 100 kilometres, we encourage the planting of trembesi trees, which have the ability to absorb carbon and store water.

“This effort is an endeavour to face ecological challenges such as deforestation, pollution, and climate change,” he said.

According to him, this tree-planting activity is also a moral movement as well as a concrete action that needs to be jointly monitored by all stakeholders.

The Secretary of the Yogyakarta Special Region Ni Made Dwipanti Indrayanti said this programme is a strategic step in integrating infrastructure development with ecological functions.

“Development must proceed in harmony with nature conservation; tree planting and the provision of RTHB become a shared commitment to environmental sustainability,” she said.

She stated that through this approach, it is hoped to serve as an example for other regions, while providing long-term benefits for the community.
