Bekasi (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) emphasised the spirit of revival and interfaith tolerance towards a better future for the nation as the meaning of Easter celebrations. “I express my gratitude for being able to attend this peaceful and spiritually meaningful celebration in person, the Easter celebration rich with the meaning of revival,” said AHY while attending the Easter Holy Night Mass at the Catholic Church of Kalvari Parish, Lubang Buaya, Pondok Gede, Bekasi City, West Java, on Saturday. He revealed that his presence at the Easter Night Mass was his first experience, but it left a deep impression, and it was in fulfilment of a promise to attend when invited by church officials during his participation in an LDII event not far from the location. On this occasion, AHY invited all of society to emulate the spirit of Easter as a symbol of revival and hope. Realistic optimism is key in facing various challenges towards a better future. He also emphasised the importance of maintaining peace amid global dynamics full of challenges. According to him, conflicts in various parts of the world, including in the Middle East, have impacts that need to be wary of by all countries, including Indonesia. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining harmony amid Indonesia’s diversity with more than 280 million inhabitants with differing backgrounds. According to the son of former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the church not only functions as a place of worship but also as a centre for social and humanitarian solidarity. He hopes that the spirit of togetherness, interfaith tolerance, and social care will continue to be maintained and enhanced. He also extended Easter greetings to all Christian communities in Indonesia. “May we all always be granted health, happiness, and strength to continue building a more advanced and prosperous Indonesia,” he said.
