Ahead of US-Iran Talks in Islamabad, Pakistan Reminds of the Importance of Dialogue
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, on Sunday (19/4/2026), told his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, that sustained dialogue is extremely important. This comes as preparations are underway for the arrival of the United States delegation in Islamabad.
In the telephone conversation, Dar stressed the need for continuous dialogue and engagement to resolve current issues as quickly as possible. This is to promote peace and stability in the region and the world.
Both ministers agreed to continue maintaining communication.
The statement also added that a telephone conversation between the Iranian president and the Pakistani prime minister is likely to take place on Sunday evening.
Previously, several Pakistani sources said that at least two United States aircraft carrying advance delegations had landed in Islamabad on Sunday. Their arrival precedes the second round of high-level negotiations with the Iranian side.
Subsequently, United States President Donald Trump stated that American representatives will arrive in Islamabad on Monday (20/4/2026) evening to hold negotiations with Iran.
