Ahead of the Hajj peak, Saudi Arabia completes service preparations at two Miqat
The Royal Commission for Makkah and the Holy Places of Saudi Arabia, together with Hajj organisers, has completed operational preparations and services at the Miqat of Yalamlam and the Miqat of Al-Juhfah. As pilgrim arrivals via land, air, and sea increase, a range of integrated operational plans have been prepared to enhance service quality during the 1447H Hajj season, SPA state news agency reported on Wednesday (20 May 2026).
Preparations at Miqat Yalamlam in the Al Lith Governorate and Miqat Al-Juhfah in the Rabigh Governorate include comprehensive development and maintenance of facilities and services. These efforts include upgrading internal routes, courtyards, rest areas, as well as strengthening cleaning, guidance, maintenance, and air conditioning services to ensure pilgrims’ comfort from arrival at the miqat. The Commission also ensured readiness of prayer areas, toilets, and ablution facilities in cooperation with the operators. In addition, the number of field operation teams, volunteers, emergency services, and health services has been increased, alongside the development of an information system and multilingual guidance for pilgrims from various countries. The Saudi Arabian Supreme Court, on Sunday (17 May 2026), announced that wuquf (standing at Arafat) on the 9th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the peak of the Hajj pilgrimage, will fall on 26 May 2026. Then, the first day of Eid al-Adha will fall on 27 May 2026.
