The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) has begun implementing a local one-way traffic engineering scheme to accelerate the flow of vehicles from Trans Java towards Jakarta during the second peak of the Lebaran return flow on the Cipali toll road from KM132 to KM70 at the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate, on Friday (27/3).

Korlantas Polri Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho stated that the second peak of the Lebaran return flow is predicted to occur on Saturday (28/3) and Sunday (29/3).

“We are conducting the first stage of the one-way from kilometre 132 to kilometre 70. This is the first stage,” Agus told reporters.

The one-way scheme started at 09:30 WIB. The one-way implementation will monitor the return flow until noon. If there is an increase in vehicles heading to Jakarta, the one-way will be extended.

“If there is another surge in the afternoon, we will implement a local one-way within the second stage of the national one-way from kilometre 169 to kilometre 70. But this morning from 132 we have already opened it. So we prioritise the return flow envoys from Trans Java to Jakarta,” he said.

Three-axle trucks ordered to turn back

On the other hand, Agus also took firm action to turn back freight vehicles with three axles or more that were caught still recklessly passing through the Pejagan toll area on Thursday (26/3).

This measure was taken to follow up on the Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) on restrictions on freight transport operations during the Lebaran transport period to ensure the comfort of returnees.

Polri urged logistics business owners to comply with the regulations to maintain smooth return flow. Enforcement against violations has also been carried out in the field.

“To alleviate the density of the outbound and return flow, restrictions on three-axle vehicle operations are also in place,” he said.

“Korlantas urges logistics business owners to comply with these regulations, and enforcement has been carried out against violating vehicles to prioritise the smoothness and safety of returnees,” Agus added.

Korlantas Polri, together with the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) and the Ministry of Public Works (PU), has implemented restrictions on freight transport operations from 13 to 29 March 2026 as part of Lebaran security measures.

This policy was taken to reduce the significant surge in vehicle volume during the outbound and return flow period.

Previously, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo confirmed that the first peak of the 2026 Lebaran return flow had passed on Tuesday (24/3) night.

He explained that based on data up to Wednesday at 12:00 WIB, the total number of vehicles entering Jakarta was approximately 2,040,000 units.

Meanwhile, for the peak return flow that occurred yesterday, there were 256,338 vehicles recorded entering the Jakarta and surrounding areas.

Nevertheless, he reminded all his personnel to remain vigilant and anticipate the second wave of return flow that has not yet occurred. This is because there are still around 500,000 returnees in their hometowns who have not returned to Jakarta.
