Ahead of Ramadan, Sinar Mas Donates Quran Copies to PBNU and IPNU Alumni Council
Jakarta — The Sinar Mas Muslim Foundation (YMSM) has endowed printed Quran copies for the wider public as Ramadan approaches, viewing the holy month as an opportunity for charitable worship. The Quran endowment is intended to benefit Muslims across the country.
“We hope that the opportunity for Muslims, including santri and students, to read, understand and contextually interpret the Quran through tadarus (communal recitation) will be broadened through today’s endowment,” said YMSM Board of Trustees Chairman Badrodin Haiti during the symbolic handover of 1,000 Quran copies to Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) General Chairman Prof. KH Yahya Cholil Staquf at the PBNU headquarters in Central Jakarta on Friday, 20 February 2026.
YMSM General Chairman Saleh Husin said the foundation hopes that Muslims’ efforts to cultivate noble character and earn multiplied spiritual rewards through Quran recitation during Ramadan will be further supported by the endowment of printed copies.
“The popularity, ease of use and durability of printed Qurans remain unmatched by other formats. This consideration is also what drives Sinar Mas, together with all its business pillars, to make endowments a regular activity,” said Saleh, who also serves as Managing Director of Sinar Mas.
In a subsequent ceremony at the same venue, YMSM Deputy Board of Trustees Chairman Feri Wibisono, who is also a former Deputy Attorney General, handed over 1,000 Quran copies to the Chairman of the Central Presidium of the Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association (IPNU) Alumni Council, Prof. Asrorun Ni’am Sholeh. The handovers were witnessed by other foundation officials, including YMSM Deputy Supervisory Board Chairman Gatot Eddy and YMSM Board of Trustees Member Mayerfas, as well as PBNU representatives including PBNU Syuriah Preacher KH Nurul Yaqin Ishaq, PBNU Chairman KH Ulil Abshar Abdalla, and PBNU Deputy Secretary General Ajengan Ginanjar Sya’ban. PBNU and its affiliated bodies will distribute the 2,000 Quran copies to mosques, prayer rooms, Islamic educational institutions and religious study circles.
YMSM was established to foster open, tolerant, egalitarian and compassionate Islamic practice within the Sinar Mas group, channelling it as a force for enhancing both piety and workplace productivity. Externally, the foundation promotes fellowship and synergy with religious figures and institutions through various social and educational activities.
Since 2008, with the support of APP Group — a Sinar Mas business pillar — and other business units spread across various cities, the foundation has endowed more than 1.3 million Quran copies, 150,000 Juz Amma reading guides, and 300 sets of Braille Qurans for the visually impaired.
