A number of residents held grave visits for family members who were victims of a landslide in Batu Godang Village, Tapanuli Selatan Regency, North Sumatra, ahead of the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.

“We visited the graves of my younger sibling, sibling-in-law, and nephew who died from the landslide,” said Poniman, a relative of the victims, in Tapanuli Selatan, North Sumatra, on Wednesday, whilst visiting the family graves.

On Wednesday afternoon, ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, a number of residents visited the victims’ graves located near the landslide site in Batu Godang Village, Angkola Sangkunur District, Tapanuli Selatan Regency.

The landslide occurred at the end of November 2025, claiming 22 lives as local residents were buried. Only 21 graves were visited at the site, as one other victim was buried elsewhere.

Poniman said that five of his relatives were caught in the disaster, three of whom perished whilst two others survived.

“One family of five — three died and two survived,” he said.

Similarly, Dodi Prasetyo also prayed for eight of his family members who fell victim to the landslide. He expressed hope that during Ramadan, all those who had passed away would be granted peace in the hereafter.

The landslide struck Kampung Duren, Batu Godang Village, Angkola Sangkunur District, Tapanuli Selatan Regency, North Sumatra on Wednesday 26 November. The disaster left 22 people dead.
