Ahead of Lebaran, Jaecoo delivers 7,000 J5 EV units to Indonesian consumers
Jakarta — China-based automaker Jaecoo’s first electric vehicle in Indonesia, the J5 EV, remains a market favourite in the national automotive sector, having recorded tens of thousands of orders within just several months of its launch.
“This acceleration step represents Jaecoo’s commitment to enabling customers to drive their units soon to accompany daily activities and inter-city travel,” said Jaecoo Indonesia Business Unit Director Jim Ma.
The Chinese manufacturer reported having distributed a total of 7,000 units to Indonesian consumers to date and plans to accelerate deliveries ahead of the Lebaran 2026 holiday season.
Jaecoo targets distributing 10,000 J5 EV units to consumers before the Lebaran 2026 holidays or by the end of next week at the latest.
Since its official launch in Indonesia in early November 2025, this five-seater SUV has attracted public attention owing to its competitive pricing in its class, with prices below Rp300 million. Since then, the vehicle has recorded tens of thousands of orders and is claimed to remain one of the best-selling electric SUVs until early this year.
Thanks to the significant sales performance of the J5 EV, the Jaecoo brand successfully broke into the top 10 best-selling car brands in January 2026 based on data from the Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers Association (Gaikindo).
This positive achievement was reinforced by the J5 EV’s success in winning the award for the most affordable Compact SUV at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2026 last month.
As Jaecoo’s first electric vehicle in Indonesia, the J5 EV is equipped with an electric motor with a power output of 155 kW and a battery with a capacity of 60.9 kWh with a driving range of up to 461 kilometres (based on NEDC testing). In terms of safety, the vehicle is equipped with 17 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) safety features, six airbags, and a 540-degree camera.
In addition to the EV, Jaecoo had previously introduced two hybrid vehicle variants to the Indonesian market since beginning its debut in early last year. Responding to strong public enthusiasm for the brand under the Chery group, Jaecoo plans to expand its dealer network to 80 outlets throughout Indonesia by the end of this year.
