Ahead of Eid, Bank Indonesia (BI) Tegal in Central Java continues to open currency exchange services for the public. This time, the service is being offered at the Hanggawana Samsat Building in Tegal City on Tuesday, 10 March. Citizens who have registered and obtained quotas through the official website pintar.bi.go.id are queuing enthusiastically.

From the morning onwards, citizens with scheduled exchange times arrive in turn according to the times listed on their booking confirmation. Officers also verify registration proof and the identity of currency exchangers before members of the public enter the service area, ensuring the queue process remains orderly and avoids crowding.

Additionally, currency exchange is conducted through several service counters, allowing the process to proceed relatively quickly. Members of the public who arrive need only show their booking confirmation from the website and wait their turn to exchange currency according to the nominal amount they ordered through PINTAR.

Bimala, Head of BI Tegal, stated that the public now understands that currency exchange must be done through the pintar.bi.go.id website for convenience, security, and equitable distribution.

To date, all members of the public exchanging through pintar.bi.go.id have come in accordance with their intention to exchange according to Bank Indonesia’s exchange packages.

“This shows that many members of the public now know about pintar.bi.go.id, and earlier the queue was not long because the website also distributes the exchange schedule,” said Bimala.

Additionally, many members of the public are now using non-cash transactions through QRIS. During the Ramadan period, QRIS transactions showed an increase of nearly double compared to the same period in 2024 and 2025.

“We also always encourage and educate the public to switch to non-cash payments because it is now made easier with the availability of QRIS Cash and QRIS Transfer,” said Bimala.

One currency exchanger, Rahma, 37, stated that the exchange process proceeded quickly and in an orderly manner. According to her, the members of the public who attended were those who had previously successfully obtained quotas when registering through the pintar.bi.go.id website.

“You must time your registration on the website, so only those who have obtained quotas can exchange today. However, this system seems fairer in order to minimise disorder,” said Rahma whilst noting that she was exchanging new currency to distribute to her nephews and family members during the upcoming Eid.

Specifically for Tegal City, BI is providing a total of 3,000 exchange packages, divided across three days, with 1,000 packages per day. Each package has a maximum of Rp5,300,000. The breakdown is: Rp50,000 denomination with a maximum of 50 notes or Rp2,500,000; Rp20,000 denomination with a maximum of 50 notes or Rp1,000,000; Rp10,000 denomination with a maximum of 100 notes or Rp1,000,000; Rp5,000 denomination with a maximum of 100 notes or Rp500,000; Rp2,000 denomination with a maximum of 100 notes or Rp200,000; and Rp1,000 denomination with a maximum of 100 notes or Rp100,000.
