Ahead of Eid al-Fitr, Police Chief Guaratees Security for Homes Left Vacant During Homecoming Travel
Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo assured Polri would provide security for homes of residents who will be away on mudik during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations, and he urged the public to report vacant homes to the nearest police station. He made the remarks at a Ramadan gathering with the Confederation of All Indonesian Workers’ Unions (KSPSI) in West Java. The security arrangements are part of the centralised operations of Bhayangkara 2026.
‘Facing the holiday, Polri is implementing Operation Ketupat; this operation provides services for those who will undertake mudik and also celebrate Eid al-Fitr,’ General Sigit said at the event held at PT NOK Indonesia, on Friday (6 March 2026).
General Sigit emphasised that the police are not only focusing on safeguarding mudik traffic, but also offering services to the public, including workers who leave their homes during Lebaran holidays.
‘If any workers might be leaving their homes and are worried their homes will be vacant, please report to the local police sector (Polsek) or nearest police station to be patrolled,’ he said.
Moreover, he added, a number of security and service posts will be established at various points along the mudik routes to provide facilities for travellers. The posts can be used by workers and other travellers who are journeying long distances to rest, break fasting, or perform sahur during the trip.
‘If you are tired on the road, want to rest, or perhaps break your fast and sahur, please stop at the service posts we have prepared,’ he urged.
The KSPSI advisory council chair also encouraged provision of free homecoming facilities. Including industrial companies, to help ease the travel costs for workers returning to their hometown.
‘Hopefully, our colleagues in industry will also prepare this (free mudik). So that it can alleviate the burden on fellow workers who will perform mudik,’ General Sigit said.
During the event, General Sigit also praised KSPSI for always pursuing workers’ aspirations in a constructive and respectful manner.
‘Thank God, all of what has been fought for has apparently succeeded, so we hope that what we are doing becomes a role model,’ concluded General Sigit.
Also present at the venue were KSPSI President Andi Gani Nena Wea and KSPSI Advisory Council members namely Kabaintelkam Polri, Commissioner General Yuda Gustawan (Industrial Relations Mitigation), Commissioner General Imam Widodo (Organisation), Ferriyady Hartadinata (UMKM and Cooperatives), Inspector General (Ret) Cahyono Wibowo (Law Enforcement).
The Police Chief was accompanied by Kabareskrim Polri Commissioner General Syahardiantono, Public Relations Division head Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, Chief of the Medical and Forensic Department Polri, Irjen Asep Hendradiana, Karobinkar SSDM Polri Brigadier General Langgeng Purnomo.
