PT Waskita Toll Road (WTR) together with the Toll Road Business Entities (BUJT) within the WTR Group are strengthening the readiness of infrastructure and operational services on several toll roads ahead of the Eid al-Fitr exodus 1447 Hijriah. Preparations are being made to maintain smooth and safe journeys during the mudik and return periods.

Buyung Ichman Lukman, Corporate Secretary of Waskita Toll Road, said the toll roads managed by the WTR Group include the Pemalang–Batang Toll Road, the Krian–Gresik Toll Road, the Kayuagung–Palembang Toll Road, the Bekasi–Cawang–Kampung Melayu Toll Road, and the Pasuruan–Probolinggo Toll Road. ‘Several steps are taken to ensure the toll roads remain safe and comfortable for the public during the mudik and return periods,’ he said in a written statement in Jakarta.

He explained that these efforts include improvements to road surface quality, improvements to road markings and traffic signs, and the maintenance of supporting infrastructure. The measures are intended to enhance safety and comfort for road users during the Lebaran period.

As part of these efforts, WTR Group conducts routine inspections and maintenance on the toll roads under management. ‘This includes repairs of road damage through Scrapping, Filling, Overlay (SFO), repairs to expansion joints, checks and optimisation of drainage systems, and adding directing signs at lane-transition points,’ he said.

In addition to infrastructure improvements, WTR Group also optimises operational services to anticipate potential surges in vehicle volume during the mudik period. Optimisation is achieved through increasing the capacity of toll booths and ensuring readiness of non-cash transaction systems to minimise queues at toll gates.

On the operational side, BUJT under the WTR Group allocates 24-hour toll-road service personnel, including traffic officers, tow trucks, rescue teams, as well as patrol and security teams. Coordination with the Police, the Department of Transportation, and other relevant agencies is strengthened to ensure smooth traffic management.

‘WTR Group also ensures the readiness of facilities in rest areas, including cleanliness, availability of clean water, parking areas, and supporting facilities such as gas stations (SPBU), EV charging stations (SPKLU), and Lebaran command posts,’ Buyung said.

Buyung added that WTR Group also supports government policies to maintain public mobility during the mudik and return periods, including tariff discounts on several toll roads managed. Buyung hopes the tariff discounts will assist people undertaking long-distance journeys during Lebaran. ‘The company is committed to ensuring the readiness of the toll roads under its management to serve public mobility optimally during the Lebaran mudik period,’ he said.
