The Badung Regency Government is once again distributing social assistance (bansos) in the form of cash of Rp 2 million per household (KK) to 6,518 Muslim residents ahead of this year’s Eid al-Fitr celebrations. The symbolic presentation of assistance took place at Musala Nurul Hikmah, Banjar Kwanji, Dalung Village, North Kuta, on Monday, 9 March 2026.

“The hope is to balance the economy and boost purchasing power among the community. We are intervening to ensure people can still meet their basic needs during Eid al-Fitr amid potential inflationary pressures,” said Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa.

The Badung Regency Government is targeting the completion of assistance distribution by Wednesday, 11 March 2026. The total budget allocated for this programme exceeds Rp 13 billion.

Currently, assistance for residents in several areas, such as North Kuta District, is gradually being transferred to recipient accounts.

“This household-based assistance is our commitment to communities that meet the criteria for each major religious celebration. We hope this assistance can help ease the burden on residents and maintain conduciveness and religious harmony in Badung,” Adi Arnawa stated firmly.

Badung Social Services Head I Gde Eka Sudarwitha explained that the number of assistance recipients this year is the result of updated data synchronisation. The process resulted in an accumulated reduction of 1,245 persons compared to the previous year’s data.

This change in the number of recipients was triggered by more rigorous data updates to ensure assistance reaches the right target among residents who genuinely need it.

“There has been an adjustment due to data updating of approximately 1,200 people. Some dropped off the list because their economic situation has improved with income above Rp 5 million, some work overseas, have changed their domicile, or have duplicate data or have passed away,” explained Eka Sudarwitha.

Each eligible household receives Rp 2 million in cash assistance transferred directly to the recipient’s account. Recipient criteria focus on poor or near-poor families with monthly incomes below Rp 5 million. According to him, recipient data is dynamic.

“So if you received it last year, you may not necessarily receive it this year because we adjust the latest requirements. For North Kuta and two or three other districts, funds have already been transferred, whilst the rest are in process until 11 March—all will be cleared. Some are still completing documentation and such,” the former Badung Culture Office Head explained.

In detail, the distribution of Muslim assistance recipients in Badung Regency comprised South Kuta District with 2,470 persons, Kuta with 1,887 persons, and North Kuta with 1,278 persons.

Subsequently, Mengwi District had 542 persons, Abiansemal 186 persons, and Petang District 155 persons.
