The Kutai Timur Regency government, along with the Kutim Police District and local leadership forum (Forkopimda), conducted a sudden inspection of essential goods at Sangatta Utara Traditional Market on Monday (25 May). The move aims to ensure price stability and sufficient stock ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 AH/2026 CE.

The inspection was led by Kutim Regency’s Assistant II for Economy and Development, Noviari Noor, accompanied by Kutim Police District Deputy Commander, Commissioner Ahmad Abdullah, and included representatives from the Industry and Trade Agency (Disperindag), Military District Command (Kodim 0909/KTM), Sangatta Naval Base (Lanal), and the Kutim Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Kutim Police District Chief, Assistant Commissioner Fauzan Arianto, explained that the monitoring was a preventive measure against price spikes and potential shortages. Regarding the rise in chili prices, he noted traders’ preference for local chillies.

“The team found that chili prices had risen due to disruptions in external supplies. Traders are now preferring local chillies for their freshness and longer shelf life,” Fauzan stated in a separate confirmation.

The police stressed continued collaboration with local government to monitor food distribution channels and prevent hoarding that harms the public. The circulating Rupiah in the market is expected to remain stable through this monitoring intervention.

In addition to focusing on food supplies, the joint team also ensured the energy sector faced no disruptions. Checks were conducted comprehensively from LPG depots to petrol stations in Sangatta Utara.

“Overall, the supply of staple goods, subsidized LPG, and other community needs ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 AH in Kutai Timur Regency remains secure, sufficient, and controlled. We want the public to feel assured in meeting their festive needs,” he concluded.
