Ahead of Board of Peace, Indonesian Organisation INH Begins Clearing Debris in Gaza
The clearing of rubble and debris in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, has been initiated by International Networking for Humanitarian (INH), an Indonesian philanthropic organisation. Whilst member states of the Board of Peace are still convening on Gaza's recovery, INH has already begun implementing a road clearance and rubble removal project to clear roads and debris left by the Israeli occupation forces' attacks.
Ninety volunteers from INH have been deployed to begin the debris clearing operation. The estimated timeframe for the work is approximately one month, with a preliminary budget of US$400,000 allocated for the effort.
The programme prioritises aid and direct benefits for 300,000 displaced persons. INH stated that there are currently an estimated 37 million tonnes of debris across the Gaza Strip.
The initiative comes as the United Nations Development Programme has estimated that clearing the debris in Gaza at the current pace could take upwards of seven years, underscoring the scale of destruction in the territory and the significance of INH's early intervention ahead of broader international reconstruction frameworks.
