Agrinas' Strategy: Ensuring the Availability of Spare Parts for Indian Pick-up Trucks
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Agrinas states that the availability of spare parts will not be a constraint in the plan to import pick-up trucks from India.
The President Director of PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, Joao Angelo De Sousa Mota, confirmed that the two major manufacturers, namely Tata Motors and Mahindra, have a strong commitment to preparing the after-sales ecosystem in Indonesia.
“I believe that with the presence of Tata and Mahindra, which are two quite resilient and large industries in the world today,” said Joao in Jakarta, Tuesday (24/2/2026).
According to him, the global business model of the automotive industry always starts with the readiness of spare parts supply, followed by the establishment of workshop and dealer networks.
This means that before vehicles are widely marketed, after-sales service support is prepared in advance so that consumers do not experience difficulties in maintenance or repair.
“And in the contract, especially with Mahindra, in addition to preparing workshops and dealers, they have also agreed that they may be able to show later that by 2027 or until 2028, they must build a factory in Indonesia,” said Joao.
“Then, Tata will also open a factory in Indonesia in 2029. With this, I hope that with more choices, the Indonesian people will be given the choice to be able to choose and pay for car products at more competitive prices and fairer prices for them,” he said.
With the availability of local assembly or production facilities, the availability of spare parts is expected to be further guaranteed, while also potentially reducing component prices.
