Aggravating Factors in Nine-Year Prison Sentence Demand for Ammar Zoni: Three Prior Drug Convictions
Former entertainer Ammar Zoni faces a nine-year prison sentence demand in a drug trafficking case at Salemba Detention Centre. Prosecutors outlined the aggravating factors supporting the sentence demand.
The sentencing hearing for Ammar Zoni was held together with five other defendants at Jakarta Central District Court on Thursday, 12 March 2026. The five co-defendants are defendant I Asep bin Sarikin, defendant II Ardian Prasetyo bin Arie Ardih, defendant III Andi Muallim alias Koh Andi, defendant IV Ade Candra Maulana bin Mursalih, and defendant V Muhammad Rivaldi.
The primary aggravating factor in the sentence demand is Ammar Zoni’s refusal to acknowledge his conduct. Prosecutors also noted that Ammar Zoni was evasive when providing testimony during court proceedings.
“Defendant II Ardian Prasetyo, Defendant III Andi Muallim, Defendant V Muhammad Rivaldi, and Defendant VI did not acknowledge their conduct and were evasive in providing their statements,” the prosecutor stated.
Another aggravating consideration is that Ammar has been convicted three times previously on drug-related charges. The prosecutor argued that the defendants’ actions have caused public concern and could damage the younger generation.
“Defendant VI Muhammad Amar Akbar has been convicted three times previously,” the prosecutor said.
“The defendants’ actions have caused public distress. Their conduct could corrupt the younger generation and violates the government’s programme to combat narcotics in Indonesia,” the prosecutor added.
The prosecutor also cited mitigating factors, noting that Ammar Zoni conducted himself respectfully during the proceedings. Defendants Asep and Ade Candra expressed remorse and pledged not to repeat their conduct.
“Mitigating factors for Defendants I, II, III, IV, V, and VI include their respectful conduct during the trial. Specifically, Defendants I and IV admitted their guilt, expressed remorse, and promised not to repeat their actions,” the prosecutor stated.
The complete sentence demands are as follows:
Asep and Ade Candra each face six years imprisonment, a fine of IDR 500 million or alternatively 140 days of confinement
Ardian Prasetyo faces seven years imprisonment, a fine of IDR 500 million or alternatively 140 days of confinement
Andi Muallim and Muhammad Rivaldi each face eight years imprisonment, a fine of IDR 500 million or alternatively 140 days of confinement
Ammar Zoni faces nine years imprisonment, a fine of IDR 500 million or alternatively 140 days of confinement
“We declare Defendant I Asep bin Sarikin, Defendant II Ardian Prasetyo bin Arie Ardih, Defendant III Andi Muallim alias Koh Andi, Defendant IV Ade Candra Maulana bin Mursalih, Defendant V Muhammad Rivaldi, and Defendant VI Muhammad Amar Akbar guilty of committing a criminal offence of unlawfully and illegally offering, with intent to sell or acting as an intermediary in the sale of Class I narcotics,” the prosecutor stated when reading the indictment.
