Agam Regency Receives Rp28.3 Billion in Agricultural Recovery Funds
Lubuk Basung, Agam — Agam Regency in West Sumatra has received Rp28.3 billion in funding from the Ministry of Agriculture to restore farmland and agricultural infrastructure damaged by hydrometeorological disasters that struck the region in late November 2025.
Regent Benni Warlis stated in Lubuk Basung on Sunday that the allocation represents the first phase of accelerated recovery funding for agricultural land and infrastructure damaged by flash floods, landslides, and flooding across 16 sub-districts.
“This is the first phase of accelerated recovery and infrastructure restoration funding for 2026,” he said.
Warlis noted that the realisation of the budget was the result of intensive coordination between the regional government and the central government. “Alhamdulillah, our consultation and coordination efforts with the Ministry of Agriculture have borne fruit,” he said.
The regent stressed that the agricultural sector is a priority for post-disaster recovery because it directly affects food security and the economic welfare of the community. “We want to ensure that affected agricultural land quickly returns to productivity,” he said.
With this support, 1,604 hectares of damaged agricultural land can be restored and optimised, allowing farmers’ livelihoods and the agricultural economy to return to normal. The regent hopes the assistance will be utilised effectively by farming groups to continue increasing agricultural productivity in Agam Regency.
Flash floods, landslides, and flooding devastated Agam in November 2025, affecting 1,604 hectares of farmland. As a result, farmers were unable to cultivate and plant rice because land was buried under landslide material and irrigation systems were cut off.
