Agam District Government Installs Direction and Warning Signs on Routes to Bukittinggi
Lubuk Basung — The Agam District Government in West Sumatra has installed directional and warning signs along alternative routes to help motorists navigate the area during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri exodus.
“We have installed directional and warning signs throughout all road segments in Agam,” said Apriwandi Arlius, Secretary of the Agam District Transportation Office, accompanied by Gani Basya, Head of Traffic at the Agam Transportation Office, in Lubuk Basung on Sunday.
He stated that the directional signs have been installed on alternative routes to Bukittinggi to reduce traffic congestion in that congestion-prone area.
The signs inform motorists about road segments affected by hydrometeorological disasters that occurred at the end of 2025.
“There are several damaged points on roads in Agam due to hydrometeorological disasters,” he said.
“Motorist safety is our priority. Let us make this Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri celebration filled with beautiful memories without any road difficulties,” he added.
He further noted that the provincial road section connecting Padang City to Bukittinggi through Sicincin-Malalak-Balingka remains impassable for vehicles based on a recommendation from PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI), the contractor responsible for road repairs at that location.
The recommendation stems from unstable soil conditions, slippery surfaces, and frequent landslides during rainy weather.
