JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has again spoken openly about the reasons behind the resignations of two Directors-General within the ministry.

Previously, he disclosed the matter during an inspection of readiness for the northern coastal (Pantura) Java return traffic, on Sunday 1 March 2026.

Dody said the resignations were linked to suspected violations uncovered during an initial internal audit.

‘There were violations, and those violations are of a serious nature. A serious misconduct could include gratuities, infidelity, or various other forms,’ Dody told reporters at his office in South Jakarta on Friday 6 March 2026.

Dody explained that the decision to resign was taken by the two Directors-General during the early stage of the Inspectorate General’s examination. They opted to resign before the ministry took further administrative action, rather than the minister appointing them or dismissing them with dishonour to President Prabowo Subianto.

He added that the case had been reported to President Prabowo Subianto, both verbally and in writing. He said the instruction came directly from Prabowo.

‘I’m carrying out the President’s orders. On the first day I was summoned to Istana Negara (Presidential Palace), I was told to do one thing: to clean house,’ Dody said.

In the same interview, Dody also referred to a finding worth Rp1 trillion at the Public Works Ministry that is being acted on. He admitted being surprised when the figure came into the public domain. He said the ministry is committed to following up the finding as directed by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).

‘Indeed, BPK gave us 60 days. The problem is the letter was only received yesterday, March 3, even though the letter is dated August 2025; the physical copy was only received yesterday,’ he said.

He stressed that the main point is that the Rp1 trillion should be returned to the state as soon as possible, because in the current state of the country, Rp1 trillion is very valuable for our people,’ he said.
