The government faces a policy dilemma with no truly comfortable solution. Three officials in Kalisari have been questioned by the Inspectorate General due to findings in Kalisari, Pasar Rebo, regarding citizen complaints about illegal parking, which were responded to using artificial intelligence or AI-generated content.

The three officials are the Kalisari Village Head, the Head of the Economy and Development Section (Kasi Ekbang), and the Head of the Government Section.

East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin explained that based on the DKI Jakarta Inspectorate’s examination, the three were deemed negligent in controlling and supervising PPSU personnel when handling public complaints.

The East Jakarta City Government, he added, has deactivated the Kalisari Village Head from her position as an administrative sanction.

Kalisari Village Head Siti Nurhasanah has been temporarily suspended until the examination process regarding the issue is completed.

“The deactivation letter has been handed over by the Pasar Rebo Sub-District Head to the individual concerned,” Munjirin stated.

He explained that the issue is serious because it concerns the integrity of public services and the utilisation of digital technology.

According to him, AI-generated photo content does not reflect the actual conditions on the ground.

Meanwhile, the public is proactive in submitting complaints to the government.

He also stated that there will be an evaluation of the digital-based complaint response mechanism so that follow-ups can be transparent.

Meanwhile, PPSU officers in Kalisari, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, have been given a sanction in the form of a First Warning Letter (SP1) for uploading AI-generated photos in the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) app report related to handling illegal parking.

Kalisari Village Head Siti Nurhasanah has apologised for the incident.

“This serves as a lesson for us so that it does not happen again in the future,” Siti said.

The issue of illegal parking on Damai Street, Kalisari, East Jakarta, was reported by residents through the JAKI app. However, the officers uploaded AI-generated photos to make it seem as though the problem had been addressed.

DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has asked the Inspectorate to thoroughly investigate allegations of AI content manipulation in the JAKI app, which went viral regarding the illegal parking report in Kalisari, Jakarta.
