After SPHP Rice Case in East Jakarta, Bulog Forms Special Task Force
The distribution of rice under the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation (SPHP) programme has come under scrutiny following suspected misuse by distribution partner personnel in Matraman and at the Cipinang Rice Market in East Jakarta. In response, state-owned Perum Bulog is tightening oversight of government rice distribution.
Bulog president director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said the company had formed a special task force to bring order to the distribution of SPHP rice. “Bulog has a major responsibility to ensure that every government assignment is carried out properly and delivers tangible benefits to the public,” he said on Thursday (29 October 2026).
As part of its internal response, Bulog has also suspended six employees pending further examination. The administrative measure is intended to ensure that the review is conducted objectively, transparently and accountably, without pre-empting its findings.
The state-owned food company has established a Special Task Force to Regulate the Distribution Programme for Government Rice Reserves (CBP). The task force will strengthen monitoring of distribution channels, assess the compliance of distribution partners and ensure that every stage of government rice distribution follows the rules.
“The formation of this task force demonstrates the company’s commitment to building a stricter, integrated and sustainable oversight system across all its operational areas,” Rizal said.
He stressed that any problems in carrying out government assignments must be handled professionally and used to inform improvements to corporate governance. Accordingly, all information and findings from the field will be followed up seriously, objectively and in accordance with the rules.
“The review and enforcement measures we are taking are part of our commitment to continually strengthen integrity, discipline and the quality of oversight in implementing government food programmes,” he said.
Rizal also called on all Bulog personnel at headquarters, regional offices and branches to improve their discipline and diligence in overseeing SPHP rice distribution.
“I have instructed all Bulog personnel, at headquarters, regional offices and branches, to strengthen discipline, diligence and oversight at every stage of distribution,” Rizal said.
He said the special task force was one measure to ensure the programme was implemented in a more orderly and measurable way. “The principle is that we want to ensure SPHP rice is distributed in accordance with the rules, that the prescribed price is maintained and that the public truly benefits,” Rizal said.
