Aerial Monitoring Confirms Merak-Bakauheni Port Under Control, Says Deputy Police Chief
Jakarta — Deputy National Police Chief Komjen Pol. Dedi Prasetyo has assured the public that the situation at Merak-Bakauheni Port remains under control following an aerial surveillance operation of the Lebaran 2026 exodus traffic.
According to a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday, he stated that based on monitoring, traffic flow from Jakarta towards Merak and in the reverse direction is running relatively smoothly, supported by favourable weather conditions.
However, queues of motorcycles and cars have begun appearing at Merak Port as part of the increased volume of holiday travellers preparing to cross to Bakauheni.
“Overall, from the aerial analysis results, traffic flow is running relatively smoothly, and thankfully the weather conditions are quite good,” he said.
On this occasion, Dedi stated that the second wave of the holiday exodus is estimated to occur on 18 to 19 March, whilst return traffic is predicted to take place in two waves, on 24-25 March and 28-29 March 2026.
He said that several security measures and traffic management schemes have been prepared by Lampung Provincial Police in coordination with relevant stakeholders to anticipate the surge in vehicle volume during this period.
Security reinforcement is being carried out through patrols, escorts, and traffic management at critical points, particularly towards the port area.
Additionally, readiness also includes support for facilities and infrastructure, including security posts, service posts, and integrated command posts, as well as monitoring through the command centre to ensure traffic flow can be comprehensively monitored.
He also urged the public to plan their journeys well, avoid peak times where possible, and utilise police services through the call centre 110 if assistance is needed during travel.
“If you require police services, please contact the 110 service and we ask our personnel to respond quickly,” he said.
