Ade Armando Speaks Frankly About His Reasons for Resigning from PSI
Ade Armando has spoken openly about the reasons for his resignation from the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). He revealed that individuals sent letters to the PSI’s daily chairman, Ahmad Ali, regarding his presence in the party.
“Even, well, perhaps Mr Ali can tell the story, there are people who sent letters to Mr Ali saying that—this isn’t Mr Ali complaining, but we read the letters together—which stated, ‘We can’t support PSI as long as Ade Armando is still there’,” said Ade Armando at the PSI central executive board office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5/2026), quoted from detikNews.
Ade explained that this is a repercussion from 40 Islamic mass organisations reporting him to the police over the alleged editing of Jusuf Kalla’s (JK) sermon.
“There are 40 Islamic organisations or figures under Mr Din Syamsuddin, if I’m not mistaken, who went to the police and reported me. Then there were some from Ambon, and another group of organisations. And on social media, the attacks were extraordinary. Even big names, famous people got involved—Mr Din Syamsuddin, in my view, is extraordinary, really top-notch. But the attacks weren’t just on me. For the first time, the attacks were directed at PSI,” he said.
“I sensed that there was indeed a deliberate, collective effort to finish me off and then finish off PSI,” he added.
According to Ade, the parties who reported him to the police will not withdraw the report.
“I’m also sure the report against me won’t be withdrawn; it will continue. But I feel innocent. I never sowed discord, provoked, or incited anyone, not even to hate JK,” he stated.
Previously reported by detikNews, Ade Armando said his resignation from PSI was for the common good.
“Through this press conference, I state that I am resigning from PSI. There is no conflict between me and PSI, but I am resigning, in my view, for the common good,” said Ade Armando at the PSI central executive board office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5).
