Jakarta - The Deputy Chairman of the PSI Central Executive Board, Ahmad Ali, stated that Ade Armando’s resignation from the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) represents a major loss for the party.

Ali said that Ade Armando was an important figure who had contributed significantly to PSI, from being a discussion partner to serving as a moral watchdog within the party.

“This is certainly a very significant loss. We are losing a key figure and thinker who has been a discussion partner and even a moral overseer within the PSI Central Executive Board,” Ali said in his statement on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

He gave an example that Ade Armando had previously criticised PSI’s actions that he deemed incorrect.

Despite feeling the loss, Ali mentioned that PSI has accepted Ade Armando’s resignation.

“Yesterday, we discussed and invited Bang Ade to talk about the current situation, then Bang Ade stated his resignation as a cadre, and the PSI Central Executive Board accepted Bang Ade Armando’s resignation, so since last night at 7 pm, Bang Ade is no longer a PSI cadre,” said Ali.

Ade Armando resigned after being reported to the police by 40 civil society organisations over allegations of religious defamation.

“Through this press conference, I state my resignation from PSI. There is no conflict between me and PSI, but I am resigning for the common good,” said Ade Armando in his statement on Tuesday.
