Ade Armando and Abu Janda Reported to Metro Police, This Turns Out to Be the Reason
Jakarta, VIVA – The controversy over social media content has once again led to legal action. Two content creators, Ade Armando and Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda, have been officially reported to Metro Jaya Police.
Both were reported in connection with allegations of incitement and provocation after uploading an excerpt from Jusuf Kalla’s sermon video, which is said to have triggered unrest.
The report was submitted by Paman Nur Lette along with the Maluku Advocates’ Professional Alliance on Monday, 20 April 2026. The report is recorded under number LP/B/2767/IV/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA.
“Today, we visited Metro Jaya Police to file a police report regarding the alleged criminal acts of incitement and provocation suspected to have been committed by Mr Ade Armando and Permadi Arya through social media,” said Paman Nur Lette to reporters, quoted on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.
According to him, the edited Jusuf Kalla sermon video was disseminated via YouTube Cokro TV and Facebook. The content is deemed not only to incite hatred but also to attack the honour of a national figure.
“They even joined in attacking Islam, the Quran, and Prophet Muhammad SAW,” he said.
Paman Nur assessed that the video editing had altered the substance of the sermon. He expressed concern that the impact could spread widely, especially among the people of Maluku who have experienced communal conflicts in the past.
“It is feared that it recalls the dark memories and collective trauma of the Maluku people who were once caught in the strong current of communal conflict,” he stated.
He also questioned the motive behind the dissemination of the incomplete video.
“So what is their intention in cutting the video? If they published it in full, the video would naturally be understood comprehensively, without losing the substantive meaning of the sermon, but because it was cut, it became contentious,” he said.
Furthermore, he viewed the narrative accompanying the video as provocative and potentially divisive to society.
“I give an example, for instance, several local media in Maluku have reported on this issue, which has already divided the religious community in Maluku in viewing this problem. There are our brothers, for example, the Muslims, who consider Mr JK as an architect of peace who has a real role and contribution in reconciling interfaith communal conflicts at that time,” he said.
