Addressing Rising Prices of Essential Goods, Bandung Regency to Hold Ramadan Market
Rising prices of staple goods in Bandung Raya continue to be a concern. To assist residents, the Bandung Regency Government will hold a Ramadan Market from 5-8 March at Lapangan Upakarti. ‘Bandung Regency Government must ensure the availability of safe food supplies and price stability. We will carry out cheap-market operations, tighten oversight, and coordinate with distributors. Do not let the community struggle to meet Ramadan needs,’ said Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna.
The Ramadan Market at Lapangan Upakarti, he added, should genuinely benefit the public, especially in securing essential goods at affordable prices. He acknowledged that price rises in commodities are also linked to the global situation. This situation has the potential to affect the regional economy. ‘We cannot ignore the global situation that is heating up. Its impact can be felt through rising commodity prices and pressure on community purchasing power. Therefore, we must be prepared to anticipate it at the regional level,’ he said.
Rice SPHP (Stabilisasi Pasokan dan Harga Pangan) is sold at Rp58,500 per five-kilogram package, or around Rp11,700 per kg, with price ranges of Rp11,700–Rp12,300 per kg in the market. Rice stocks remain safe ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026 despite tensions between the United States–Israel and Iran. Rice reserves up to 136 thousand tons are ready to help maintain price stability. The February 2026 period, coinciding with Ramadan, has historically seen inflation that fluctuates according to the last five years. The Ramadan Market returns as part of the annual tradition awaited by residents.
