ADB official due here

JAKARTA (JP): The Asian Development Bank's (ADB) vice chairman for the east Asia region, Henry Sullivan, who arrived in Bali Thursday to attend a seminar on capital markets, will hold meetings with senior government officials here next week.

The Ministry of Finance said in a statement here yesterday that Sullivan, during his stay in Jakarta on Monday through Thursday, is scheduled to meet a number ministers, including Coordinating Minister for Economy and Finance Saleh Afiff, Minister of Public Works Radinal Moochtar and Governor of Bank Indonesia Soerdradjad Djiwandono.

The statement said that after the meetings with the ministers, Sullivan will proceed his 10-day Indonesian visit to see several projects financed with ADB loans in West Nusa Tenggara, including "Micro Credit" and "Nusa Tenggara Agriculture Development" projects.

The planned visits to the projects, according to the statement, are aimed to get on-the-spot evaluation on the effectiveness of ADB loans.

As of Jan. 31, ADB had been committed to providing US$9.7 billion in soft loans to Indonesia.

Sullivan made a similar visit to Indonesia in March last year following his appointment as ADB's vice chairman in January 1995. (alo)
