Activities at Sota PLBN Remain Normal Ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H
Head of PLBN Sota, Mathilda B. Pusung, stated in a press release received in Jakarta on Friday that up to the Lebaran holiday period in 2026, there has been no significant increase in cross-border activities between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. “The current crossing situation remains normal and does not show any increase in activity. Nevertheless, we ask all personnel to continue enhancing vigilance and strengthening synergy with related agencies such as the TNI, Polri, Immigration, and Quarantine to ensure readiness to face potential surges in cross-border traffic during Eid al-Fitr,” said Mathilda. She conveyed that although the flow of crossers is still stable, all personnel from various agencies are required to maintain readiness. “This measure is taken as an anticipation if there is a surge in crossings during this Eid al-Fitr period,” she added. Mathilda emphasised the importance of complete travel documents, following inspection procedures, and maintaining order while in the PLBN area. According to her, as the frontline of state services in the Indonesia-Papua New Guinea border region, PLBN Sota continues to commit to providing safe, orderly, and humane services. Through the readiness of personnel and strengthened cross-agency coordination under the management of the Indonesian National Border Management Agency (BNPP), it is hoped that crossings at PLBN Sota ahead of and during Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah can proceed smoothly, providing a sense of security and comfort for all border crossers.
