Activists don't meet summons
JAKARTA: Two activists expected to be questioned about controversial politician Sri Bintang Pamungkas did not show up at the Attorney General's Office yesterday.
Risna Salim and Harto David are members of the Indonesian Democratic Union Party (PUDI) which Bintang chairs.
The Attorney General's Office also wants three other activists, Yopi Tomasoa, Fahlali Mukir and Petrus Latumalia, but cannot find them.
"They were summoned to the Attorney General's Office to testify because they allegedly know about PUDI's activities," Suhartoyo said.
Bintang has been detained at the prosecutors' office since he was arrested March 5 on subversion charges over PUDI's activities.
PUDI Deputy Chairman Julius Usman and Secretary-General Saleh Abdullah were arrested on the same day on the same charges.
The government said Bintang's "sins" included sending Idul Fitri cards displaying PUDI's agenda: to boycott the May 29 election, reject President Soeharto's reelection and prepare a 1998 post-Soeharto era. PUDI also wanted to replace the 1945 Constitution. (05)
