Acting Tasikmalaya Mayor Outraged Over Galih Prawesti Building Alcohol Parties
The Tasikmalaya City Government in West Java has taken firm action by deploying personnel from the Local Government Police (Satpol PP) to guard the Galih Prawesti Building on R.A.A Wiratanuningrat Street in Tawang District. The decision follows the discovery of scattered alcohol bottles on government-owned property.
Acting Mayor of Tasikmalaya, Diky Candra Negara, stated that his office acted swiftly after receiving public reports of the building being misused for alcohol parties. During an unannounced inspection with the local village chief, Diky found alarming conditions on-site.
“We immediately went to the Galih Prawesti Building with the Empangsari Village Chief to inspect the premises and found empty alcohol bottles scattered around. Although there was a guard at the building, he is elderly and returns home at night, leading to lax security,” Diky said on Sunday (24 May 2026).
Diky suspects the alcohol party occurred the previous night. He expressed regret over irresponsible individuals using public facilities for negative activities. As a preventive measure, he has instructed the Acting Regional Secretary to coordinate with the Satpol PP chief to deploy security personnel.
“This building is a local government asset that must be safeguarded. It must not be used for alcohol parties and requires stricter control to prevent unwanted incidents,” he stressed.
The Galih Prawesti Building, located in the centre of Tawang District, is suspected to be a gathering point for teenagers to hold alcohol parties, particularly after events such as group viewings or celebrations.
Empangsari Village Chief Erik Hendarsah added that the found alcohol bottles were likely from teenagers gathering after group viewings or celebrating specific victories. He expressed concern over government assets being used as locations for criminal activities.
“We hope Satpol PP officers will be on guard from tonight onwards. We urge continued crackdowns on alcohol distribution to protect the youth, as it is a primary driver of criminal behaviour,” Erik concluded.
