Achieving ISO 55001, PGN Proves Resilience in Gas Infrastructure Management
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGN), as the Gas Subholding of PT Pertamina (Persero), has obtained ISO 55001 Asset Management System certification from the British Standards Institution Group Indonesia (BSI Group Indonesia) for the scope of SSWJ Transmission Infrastructure and Gas Distribution.
PGN Corporate Secretary Fajriyah Usman, in her statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, said this achievement serves as international recognition of PGN’s reliable, efficient, safe, and operationally excellent management of natural gas infrastructure.
She conveyed that the implementation of ISO 55001 is an important part in ensuring that the management and operation of natural gas infrastructure is carried out systematically, organised, effectively, and sustainably to improve service quality to customers.
“The implementation of ISO 55001 provides a strong foundation for the company in managing assets optimally. With a structured management approach, PGN is able to enhance operational effectiveness while optimising the company’s operating costs,” said Fajriyah.
ISO 55001 is an international standard that governs asset management governance to help companies obtain maximum benefits from asset management, including improved efficiency, security, good risk management, and operational sustainability.
This standard is becoming increasingly relevant given that PGN manages a widespread network and natural gas infrastructure across various regions of Indonesia.
Currently, PGN is the main player in the national natural gas trade with a market share of 91.36 per cent.
PGN’s operational area covers 18 provinces and 78 cities/regencies with more than 822,000 customers and is supported by a national natural gas pipeline network spanning more than 33,490 km.
PGN along with its subsidiaries and affiliates manages various strategic natural gas infrastructures, including the South Sumatera-West Java (SSWJ) transmission pipeline, gas distribution pipelines, Gresik-Semarang transmission pipeline, Lampung FSRU, West Java FSRU, Arun LNG Hub, SPBG, and CNG mother station facilities.
The implementation of ISO 55001 strengthens PGN’s performance in continuing to prioritise best practices in ensuring asset integrity and infrastructure asset management, including minimising risks and preventing potential incidents that could impact customers and company operations.
In every operational and maintenance activity of infrastructure, PGN also continues to ensure cost efficiency reliability, as well as strengthening synergy with subsidiaries, affiliates, and all stakeholders.
The achievement of ISO 55001 certification is expected to further strengthen the company’s performance in managing reliable, safe, and internationally standard natural gas infrastructure, while delivering prime services to all customer sectors.
This certification is also part of PGN’s efforts to increase stakeholder confidence and support national energy resilience.
“Going forward, PGN is committed to continuing to maintain and enhance the capability of natural gas infrastructure governance. With an organised management approach, every investment decision can be made by considering cost, risk, and performance aspects in a balanced manner. This will directly impact the improvement of infrastructure reliability and the company’s long-term business sustainability,” stated Fajriyah.
