Aceh Provincial Government Challenges INKINDO to Develop Resilient Infrastructure Planning
The Aceh Provincial Government has requested the Indonesian National Association of Consultants (INKINDO) Aceh to address regional development challenges in disaster-prone areas through more adaptive, sustainable, and risk-mitigation-oriented planning. This was stated by the Aceh Regional Secretary, M. Nasir, during the opening of the XI INKINDO Aceh Provincial Assembly in Banda Aceh on Monday.
“Future development must be designed to be more adaptive, sustainable, and oriented towards disaster risk mitigation,” said M. Nasir. He noted that the XI INKINDO Aceh Provincial Assembly should serve as a strategic forum to strengthen the contribution of consultants in facing increasingly complex regional development challenges.
He assessed that the theme of strengthening the professionalism of INKINDO members in responding to disasters and the dynamics of consultancy service regulations is highly relevant to Aceh’s current situation. As a region with a high level of disaster vulnerability, Aceh requires more resilient development planning that pays close attention to risk mitigation aspects.
M. Nasir referenced the hydrometeorological disasters that hit several areas of Aceh late last year as a vital lesson for all development stakeholders. “The damage to infrastructure and the disruption of social and economic activities caused by floods and landslides must be a shared concern in the development planning process,” he said.
Furthermore, he noted that the construction sector is currently one of the largest contributors to Aceh’s economic growth, with a contribution of 1.36 per cent, followed by the trade sector at 1.27 per cent. Consequently, the role of consultancy services is deemed crucial to ensure that development is targeted, safe, efficient, and high-quality.
“From spatial planning and feasibility studies to infrastructure design and work supervision, high competence, integrity, and professional responsibility are required,” said M. Nasir. On this occasion, the Aceh Provincial Government also expressed hope that INKINDO Aceh continues to grow into a solid and progressive professional organisation, capable of increasing its members’ capacity to become more professional and adaptive to evolving consultancy service regulations.
