The Aceh Provincial Government has requested the Indonesian National\nAssociation of Consultants (INKINDO) Aceh to address regional\ndevelopment challenges in disaster-prone areas through more adaptive,\nsustainable, and risk-mitigation-oriented planning. This was stated by\nthe Aceh Regional Secretary, M. Nasir, during the opening of the XI\nINKINDO Aceh Provincial Assembly in Banda Aceh on Monday.<\/p>\n
\u201cFuture development must be designed to be more adaptive,\nsustainable, and oriented towards disaster risk mitigation,\u201d said M.\nNasir. He noted that the XI INKINDO Aceh Provincial Assembly should\nserve as a strategic forum to strengthen the contribution of consultants\nin facing increasingly complex regional development challenges.<\/p>\n
He assessed that the theme of strengthening the professionalism of\nINKINDO members in responding to disasters and the dynamics of\nconsultancy service regulations is highly relevant to Aceh\u2019s current\nsituation. As a region with a high level of disaster vulnerability, Aceh\nrequires more resilient development planning that pays close attention\nto risk mitigation aspects.<\/p>\n
M. Nasir referenced the hydrometeorological disasters that hit\nseveral areas of Aceh late last year as a vital lesson for all\ndevelopment stakeholders. \u201cThe damage to infrastructure and the\ndisruption of social and economic activities caused by floods and\nlandslides must be a shared concern in the development planning\nprocess,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, he noted that the construction sector is currently one\nof the largest contributors to Aceh\u2019s economic growth, with a\ncontribution of 1.36 per cent, followed by the trade sector at 1.27 per\ncent. Consequently, the role of consultancy services is deemed crucial\nto ensure that development is targeted, safe, efficient, and\nhigh-quality.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom spatial planning and feasibility studies to infrastructure\ndesign and work supervision, high competence, integrity, and\nprofessional responsibility are required,\u201d said M. Nasir.
