Jakarta, VIVA – Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) assesses that security measures and traffic engineering during the Eid al-Fitr exodus and return flows in 2026 proceeded successfully. Commission III appreciates the performance of the National Police (Polri), particularly Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Traffic Corps Head Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho.

“This year’s mudik organisation shows very positive results in various aspects. One of them is the decrease in traffic accident rates compared to previous years,” said Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman on Thursday, 2 April 2026.

“This is certainly a very good achievement. The accident figures could be suppressed, meaning the security and traffic engineering strategies were highly effective,” he added.

Commission III of the DPR also highlighted the relatively conducive security conditions in various regions during the Eid mudik period. Crime actions during the mudik period are said to have decreased, in line with increased patrols and security by police apparatus in various areas.

Commission III of the DPR also observed that while the public left their homes to celebrate Eid in their hometowns, the public security and order situation remained maintained. This demonstrates the readiness of police apparatus in the field.

“From the traffic smoothness aspect, Commission III of the DPR assesses that congestion on several main routes also decreased, such as on toll road sections and public roads, both during the exodus and return flows. This means the implementation of traffic engineering such as one-way and contraflow on toll roads was deemed able to significantly alleviate vehicle density,” explained Habiburokhman.

“Even routes that usually experience severe congestion every year can now be more controlled. This is the result of hard work and good coordination between agencies and police personnel in the field,” he continued.

Commission III of the DPR, continued Habiburokhman, hopes that this year’s achievements can be maintained and even improved in future Eid mudik organisations.

Security patterns must also continue to be refined so that mudik becomes increasingly safe, comfortable, and smooth for all members of the public celebrating to gather with their respective families in their hometowns.
