Cawang City Park in East Jakarta has come under scrutiny again following alleged repeated incidents of indecent conduct between men at the location. Offenders are believed to have entered the park through a gap between the park’s fence and a wall during nighttime hours. The gap has now been permanently sealed.

Monitoring by news personnel at the location on Saturday (28 February 2026) revealed that the unauthorised access point used by offenders at night was located near the underpass of the Cawang-Grogol Toll road on Jalan DI Pandjaitan, East Jakarta. The gap marked the endpoint of the park’s boundary fence with the pavement.

The gap measured less than 1 metre wide. At the base of the gap, several large stones were found, believed to have been used by offenders as footholds to force their way into Cawang City Park.

The gap has since been permanently sealed with concrete. The concrete barrier fully blocks the opening and is currently supported using plywood.

Previous reporting indicated that access to Cawang City Park, located in the Kebon Pala and Makasar areas of East Jakarta, had been closed due to its alleged use as a location for same-sex prostitution. Two access points were permanently sealed.

The closure was carried out by the East Jakarta City Government in a coordinated effort involving multiple agencies, including the District Office of Parks and Urban Forests. The initiative also involved the village administration and the three-pillar community structure, comprising the Military Community Liaison Officer and Police Community Relations Officer of Kebon Pala Village.

“We are attempting to permanently seal two access points today using concrete pouring, working together with the District Office of Parks and Urban Forests,” said Makasar District Head Dimas Prayudi at Cawang City Park, East Jakarta, according to Antara news agency on Friday (27 February).

Dimas revealed information concerning misuse of the park’s function. He stated that joint task force personnel discovered gaps in the fence that were frequently used by residents to enter the park area unofficially.
