Pontianak, VIVA – PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), or Pelindo, is strengthening synergy with stakeholders to accelerate the full operations of the Kijing Terminal in Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan, particularly through bolstering infrastructure connectivity and the logistics ecosystem.

These efforts were discussed in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with ministries/agencies and related stakeholders, followed by a field visit to the Kijing Terminal on Tuesday (5/5). The FGD was attended by representatives from the West Kalimantan Provincial Government, Mempawah Regency Government, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, as well as several state-owned enterprises and other stakeholders.

The Director General of Highway Development at the Ministry of Public Works, Roy Rizali Anwar, emphasised that connectivity support, particularly road access to the terminal, is a key factor in optimising the operations of the Kijing Terminal.

“The success of the Kijing Terminal heavily depends on integrated connectivity, especially in terms of road infrastructure,” said Roy, quoted from his statement on Wednesday, 6 May 2026.

He explained that accelerating the construction of road access, bridges, and the planned toll road is an important part of supporting smooth logistics flow. “Cross-sectoral collaboration is needed, including in financing schemes involving the government, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector. Integrated investment support will help reduce construction costs and have an impact on more affordable toll tariffs,” he clarified.

Roy added that the planned toll road development connecting Supadio Airport to the Kijing Terminal, spanning approximately 100 kilometres, will strengthen multimodal connectivity.

“This integration will accelerate logistics flow while enhancing the competitiveness of the West Kalimantan region,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of West Kalimantan, Krisantus Kurniawan, expressed full support for accelerating the operations of the Kijing Terminal. “The existence of the Kijing Terminal is very important for the people of West Kalimantan, especially in driving economic growth and smoothing logistics distribution,” he said.

He also emphasised the importance of access development that provides broad benefits to the community. “We hope that the development of access to the Kijing Terminal prioritises public roads, so that the benefits are not only for logistics but also for wider community mobility,” he added.

On the same occasion, Pelindo’s Commercial Director, Farid Padang, affirmed the operational readiness of the Kijing Terminal and Pelindo’s commitment to optimising its utilisation.
