Abu Dhabi Government Covers Hotel Costs for Tourists Stranded by Iran-US-Israel Conflict
The Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has instructed hotels throughout the capital to extend accommodation for tourists unable to travel due to flight disruptions resulting from the regional conflict.
According to Khaleej Times, the Abu Dhabi government stated that it will cover the costs of extended stays for affected tourists. The government will bear all expenses for extended accommodation until tourists are able to resume their journeys.
In the directive, the government also requested that hotels submit invoices or proof of payment to a designated email address provided by the department.
“Yes, we have received the circular. Guests who cannot travel and were supposed to check out are allowed to remain. We are coordinating the process according to instructions,” said a receptionist executive at a five-star property in Abu Dhabi.
Staff at another hotel also confirmed that stranded guests have been accommodated beyond their original booking dates.
“We have authorised extensions in accordance with the directive,” the employee stated.
The extension of stays for affected tourists in Abu Dhabi represents a follow-up response to travel disruptions. “The nation covers all accommodation and housing costs for affected and stranded passengers, ensuring the provision of essential services continues during the period of operational adjustment,” said the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
According to authorities, approximately 20,200 passengers have received temporary accommodation and rebooking support.
