Jakarta - Vice President (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming visited the dock development and production facilities of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) in Tuban Regency, East Java. The project, managed by SIG’s subsidiary PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk, will become a high-capacity cement export facility adopting the latest modern technology to support efficient and sustainable export operations. The project has progressed to 99% and the Vice President urged the company to maintain and even improve environmental management standards and compliance. He expressed hope that the facility would soon operate and support the nation’s capabilities on the global stage and the sustainable development agenda, not only in Indonesia but also abroad. He inspected the dock features projected to be able to ship 500,000 to 1 million tonnes of cement to international markets. The dock and production facility development is part of a strategic collaboration between SIG through its subsidiary SBI and Taiheiyo Cement Corporation, established since 2021. Investment Value: With an investment of Rp1.4 trillion, the project includes several developments of dock facilities and a factory. One of them is increasing the capacity of the Special Terminal from 15,000 Deadweight Tonnage (DWT) to 50,000 DWT. This capacity increase is achieved by building a new jetty trestle and a jetty platform connected to the existing jetty. To support production, the project also includes a blending silo system with a capacity of 8,000 tonnes, a clinker silo system with a capacity of 15,000 tonnes, and two cement silo systems each with a capacity of 18,000 tonnes. The project also involves the installation of transport facilities including a 4.1 km tube conveyor, a tripper conveyor, and a ship loader with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes per hour (tph) to convey bulk cement from the plant to ships berthed at the dock. Completion is expected by mid-2026. SIG’s President Director Indrieffouny Indra said the project is expected to be completed soon and ready to operate optimally by mid-2026. The project, a synergy with Hutama Karya, is projected to be able to ship 450,000 tonnes of cement this year, rising to a full capacity of 1 million tonnes per year. “This project will be a milestone not only in strengthening distribution capacity but also in contributing to the competitiveness of the export market and strengthening the group’s global distribution network amid increasingly competitive domestic market conditions and the overcapacity faced by the domestic cement industry. May the cooperation with Taiheiyo yield optimal results and contribute to the growth of the performance of both groups. And most importantly, to expand the services of the nation’s works on the world stage,” closed Indrieffouny Indra.
