A Glimpse into the Public Works Minister's Strategy for 2027: Faster Roads, Better Water
JAKARTA - The Minister of Public Works (PU), Dody Hanggodo, is targeting infrastructure development for the 2027 fiscal year, focused on more measurable results across various sectors.
“For 2027, the targets are directed towards more measurable outcomes,” said Dody at his office in South Jakarta on Thursday (02/04/2026).
For the water resources sector, the government aims to increase storage capacity to 58.84 cubic metres per capita and irrigation reliability to 27 per cent.
In the connectivity sector, the government targets reducing travel time on major national routes to 1.8 kilometres per 100 hours.
Additionally, the strategic infrastructure sector is directed towards improving education quality to 64.4 per cent and socio-economic facilities to 71 per cent.
Dody explained that the preparation of the 2027 infrastructure programme involves various stages of cross-sectoral coordination up to the national level.
He clarified that contracts are part of the series of explorations for the infrastructure programme for the upcoming fiscal year.
“The contract aspect will serve as input in the National Development Planning Deliberation or Musrenbangnas and will form the basis for exploring the indicative stage for the 2027 fiscal year,” he said.
First, continuing infrastructure support for food, energy, and water self-sufficiency. Second, increasing infrastructure spending efficiency and encouraging more innovative financing. Third, strengthening synergy and collaboration across ministries, institutions, and regional governments.
Dody explained that all policy directions are part of support for President Prabowo Subianto’s vision, particularly in strengthening the food, energy, and water sectors.
“The entire process is directed to support the eight aspirations of President Prabowo Subianto, especially in strengthening food, energy, and water self-sufficiency, continuing infrastructure development, and maintaining balanced development with the environment,” Dody emphasised.
“Three main notes: efficiency of investment or ICOR target below 6, poverty reduction towards 5 per cent, and driving economic growth to 8 per cent in 2029,” he continued.
He added that these achievements will be directly measured by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) through the contribution of infrastructure to economic growth, poverty alleviation, and job creation.
