9 SMEs shortlisted for Dji Sam Soe Awards

JAKARTA: Nine small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have been selected as finalists in the Dji Sam Soe Awards, a contest sponsored by giant cigarette producer PT HM Sampoerna.

The shortlisted SMEs are UD Gallery 76 from Malang and Citra Mulia Perkasa from Surabaya, both in East Java; two firms from West Java, namely, CV Rumpun Bambu Kreasi (Tasikmalaya) and CV Sumber Berkat (Tangerang); and five from Yogyakarta, namely Ndalem Prakaryan Batik, Kangean Desa Restaurant (Sleman), Tom's Silver Manufacture (Kota Gede), Timboel Keramik and PT Pancaran Harapan Nusa (both from Bantul).

The nominees, whittled down from the approximately 7,000 SMEs which participated, will give presentations in front of prominent business figures such as Eva Riyanti Hutapea and Bob Sadino.

The first, second and third place winners will receive cash prizes of Rp 36 million (US$3,913), Rp 27 million and Rp 18 million respectively. -- JP
