84,637 Applicants Apply to UGM Through SNBT Pathway
A total of 84,637 applicants applied to UGM through the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) pathway. UGM’s Vice Rector for Education and Teaching, Prof. Dr. Wening Udasmoro, S.S., M.Hum., DEA, stated that the high number of applicants reflects public confidence in the university’s educational quality. “Student interest in continuing their studies at UGM remains strong, motivating us to maintain educational quality, academic services, and inclusive access,” said Wening on Monday (25 May) at UGM Campus.
Wening added that for the 2026/2027 academic year, UGM offers three main admission routes: National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP), National Selection Based on Test (SNBT), and Independent Selection. The total capacity for regular programmes is 9,403 new students, with an additional 1,301 places for the International Undergraduate Programme (IUP). Through SNBT, UGM will admit 2,857 students. In terms of programme preferences, the Vocational School is the most popular faculty with 21,730 applicants, followed by the Faculty of Engineering with 10,702 and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences with 5,463.
Wening noted that the data reflects shifting student interests across UGM’s programmes. In addition to national selection routes, UGM offers Independent Selection to broaden access to higher education. This pathway is an option for applicants who do not secure admission via SNBT. The Independent Selection quota accounts for 40% of the total new student capacity. “UGM will admit approximately 3,729 students through Independent Selection,” Wening stated in a press release.
Wening urged the public to access official new student admission information solely through UGM’s official website at admissions.ugm.ac.id. He also warned the public to be vigilant against scams promising admission in exchange for payment. “I urge the public not to trust anyone claiming to represent UGM and offering guaranteed admission through specific pathways,” he added.
The National New Student Selection Committee (SNPMB) officially announced the results of the Computer-Based Written Test-National Selection Based on Test (UTBK-SNBT) 2026.
