JAKARTA — Traffic volume across the Jabodetabek region and West Java began increasing on Monday, 16 March 2026, five days before the Eid al-Fitr holiday for the Islamic year 1447 Hijriah.
Widiyatmiko Nursejati, Senior General Manager of Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad Regional Division, reported that vehicle increases were particularly pronounced on routes departing Jabodetabek towards Merak and Puncak in Bogor.
“The total vehicle volume leaving Jabodetabek via Cikupa Toll Gate and Ciawi 1 Toll Gate reached 83,510 vehicles,” Widiyatmiko stated in a written statement on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
At Cikupa Toll Gate heading towards Merak, 48,217 vehicles passed through, representing a 3.33 per cent increase compared to the normal volume of 46,665 vehicles.
A more significant increase occurred at Ciawi 1 Toll Gate heading towards Puncak Bogor, with 35,293 vehicles recorded, a 14.62 per cent rise from the normal volume of 30,790 vehicles.
In West Java, vehicle volumes heading towards Bandung and Rancaekek also increased.
“A total of 70,386 vehicles passed through to these areas, representing a 9.58 per cent increase compared to the normal volume of 64,235 vehicles,” Widiyatmiko said.
Widiyatmiko explained that the increased vehicle volume in West Java was distributed through two main toll gates: Cileunyi Toll Gate and Pasteur Toll Gate.
At Cileunyi Toll Gate, 36,098 vehicles were recorded heading towards Rancaekek, Garut, and surrounding areas, a 13.66 per cent increase from normal conditions.
“Meanwhile, return traffic towards Jakarta through the same gate reached 31,062 vehicles, an increase of 9.33 per cent,” he said.
At Pasteur Toll Gate, vehicle volume heading towards Bandung city totalled 34,288 vehicles, a 5.59 per cent increase.
Return traffic to Jakarta reached 29,270 vehicles, up 3.35 per cent compared to normal conditions.
“We anticipate that traffic volume increases will continue until the peak exodus, which is estimated to occur on Wednesday, 18 March 2026,” Widiyatmiko said.
Road users were also reminded to use a single electronic card for toll transactions on closed-system toll roads, such as Cipularang Toll, Padaleunyi Toll, and JORR II, to avoid difficulties during payment processing at toll gates.
