THE Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Headquarters is targeting 8,000 peacekeeping and humanitarian troops to be sent to Gaza, Palestine, to be in a state of readiness for departure by June 2026.

Army Information Service Chief Brigadier General Donny Pramono explained that 1,000 personnel are targeted to be ready for departure in February. The remainder will follow no later than June 2026.

“Approximately 1,000 personnel are targeted to be in a state of readiness for departure by early April 2026, and the entire 8,000-strong contingent is targeted to be ready for departure by the end of June 2026 at the latest,” he said in a written statement on Sunday, 15 February 2026.

Donny clarified that the phrase “ready for departure” does not mean the troops will have departed for Gaza on that date. Rather, it means they are fully prepared to be deployed at any time.

“The departure schedule remains entirely dependent on the country’s political decision and applicable international mechanisms,” he said.

He stated that to date, the Army has not received any political decision regarding the departure date of troops to Gaza. Both the TNI and the Ministry of Defense are still awaiting President Prabowo Subianto’s decision.

The deployment of TNI troops to Gaza is part of Indonesia’s decision to join the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza, Palestine. The force was designed by the United States and was adopted as United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803 on 17 November 2025.

State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi previously stated that the TNI soldiers who will join the peacekeeping forces from various countries have the objective of reducing the escalation of conflict. Prasetyo hopes the peacekeeping forces can de-escalate the conflict while ensuring humanitarian aid reaches the Palestinian people.

“At the very least, we hope this will reduce the escalation of the conflict in Gaza so that the suffering of our brothers and sisters is alleviated,” said Prasetyo at Gambir Station, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.
