The authorities at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) have announced a significant increase in flight operations during the Lebaran 2026 exodus period. Airlines have submitted requests for 735 additional flights.

“Based on data from 13–15 March 2026, total passenger movements reached approximately 519,719 passengers, representing an increase of around 16.6% compared to 2025,” stated Yudistiawan, Assistant Deputy for Communication & Legal Affairs at PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, on Tuesday (17 March 2026).

He detailed that a particularly significant increase occurred in domestic flights, which recorded approximately 384,000 passengers—an increase of around 20.3% compared to 2025. International flights, meanwhile, recorded approximately 134,000 passengers, representing an increase of around 7.4%.

“This demonstrates that passenger movements at Soekarno-Hatta Airport are beginning to increase and are expected to continue growing as the peak exodus period approaches over the coming days,” he stated.

He further noted that airlines have already requested additional flights. Current operational data indicates 735 extra flights have been submitted.

“Based on operational data, there are 735 extra flights proposed during the Lebaran transport period, comprising 101 international flights and 634 domestic flights,” he explained.

“These additional flights are expected to provide additional capacity for passengers undertaking return journeys during both the exodus and return periods, whilst also assisting in maintaining smooth flight operations at Soekarno-Hatta Airport during the peak Lebaran period,” he added.

Yudistiawan noted that Soekarno-Hatta Airport has established an integrated Lebaran transport command centre operating from 13–30 March 2026. This command centre involves airlines, airport authorities, the military and police, ground handling operators, and other relevant agencies.

In terms of aviation security and safety, Soekarno-Hatta Airport has also intensified surveillance in the terminal area through random vehicle inspections. Airport authorities have also ensured operational reliability through generator electrical testing to mitigate potential power disruptions.

“From an infrastructure perspective, the airport ensures the readiness of 3 runways, 175 parking stands, and 115 airbridges to support smooth aircraft movements. Passenger facilities have been strengthened through the provision of baggage trolleys, cabin trolleys, and optimisation of Skytrain services and inter-terminal shuttle buses,” he concluded.
