Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - As many as 73 countries have joined Indonesia in condemning the attack on peacekeeping forces in Lebanon. Ambassadors from dozens of countries have aligned with Indonesia’s UN envoy, Umar Hadi, to deliver a joint statement at the United Nations on Thursday US time.

“We strongly condemn the continuous attacks on UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon), including the recent attack that killed three Indonesian peacekeeping troops in Lebanon,” they stated, referring to the UN-established peacekeeping mission operating in Lebanon, as reported by Al-Jazeera and AFP on Friday (10/4/2026).

The joint statement also noted that, besides Indonesians, peacekeepers from other countries were injured in the recent attack in southern Lebanon. This includes troops from France, Ghana, Nepal, and Poland.

“We express deep concern over the humanitarian situation in Lebanon, particularly the significant civilian casualties, extensive damage to civilian infrastructure, and the mass displacement of more than one million people,” they added.

The UN has stated that initial findings indicate one Indonesian peacekeeper was likely killed by Israeli tank fire on 29 March. The other two were killed the following day by an explosive device that, according to UN assessments, was “most likely placed by Hezbollah”.

Previously, Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry described the attack as “unacceptable”. The statement urged the UN Security Council “to promptly convene a meeting of UNIFIL troop-contributing countries to review and take measures to enhance the protection of personnel on duty”.

President Prabowo Subianto also stated that he “strongly condemns every heinous act that undermines peace” and “causes the death of our nation’s soldiers”.
